Although sustainable development is one of the priorities of the European Union, as evidenced by those policies, goals, and strategies which implement the 2030 Agenda, several studies show how the educational systems that should lead Europe’s citizens towards the digital and green transition are not sufficiently equipped to provide the necessary knowledge and skills.
EDUS – Educating for Sustainability develops and disseminates a training program, and related teaching resources, that educators and trainers will be able to use to educate both younger generations and adults on sustainable development following a problem-based learning approach.
According to the 2030 Agenda, the project considers sustainability as a large umbrella category that includes an environmental, economic, social, and technological dimension, the latter of particular interest because it represents the tool without which the others would not be possible.
Projects goals
- Studying the state-of-the-art of educators’ knowledge and skills in sustainable development education.
- Designing tools that professional trainers and teachers from different countries can use to educate students for sustainability. The EDUS methodology uses innovative and open source technologies, is based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the New European Bauhaus, also integrating the Green Comp framework, and stimulates training of skills that responds to current labor market needs.
- Promoting the developed resources so that they can be known and used by different professional fields.
