Frontignano di Ussita (MC)
The community of Frontignano welcomes the architects of orizzontale for a collective production site that aims to create the first Land Art itinerary in the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains.
The design and construction process will result in the creation of installations integrated into the landscape, reflecting on a new model of temporary living in a mountainous and earthquake-prone territory that cyclically changes its appearance. The installations will gather the visions of local residents and the knowledge of local artisans, experimenting with strategies of recycling/upcycling and new possible uses of old ski facilities, in harmony with local flora and fauna.
Frontignano is a hamlet of Ussita located at 1350 meters above sea level – one of the so-called “Highlands”. FRONTIGNANO ART WALKS aims to bring together the community, public administrations, research centers, businesses, and nonprofits that share a vision of radically transforming an area that, severely impacted by the 2016 earthquake, represents a unique observatory for rethinking the ways in which humans relate to nature.
Since 2018, Sineglossa has been developing a path to reconstruct the identity of these places through real community drafting, meetings attended by botanists, artists, economists, architects, scientists, and historians. This gave rise to the Nontourism guidebook Ussita, Monti Sibillini. Deviazioni inedite raccontate dagli abitanti, published Ediciclo and awarded Best Guide in the ITAS Libro di Montagna 2020 prize at the Trento Film Festival.
