Rigenerativa – Training in Generative AI for Place Regeneration is a program supported by the Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale Impresa Sociale. It was designed to meet the training needs that emerged within Lo Stato dei Luoghi, the main national network of culturally driven regenerated spaces, and is aimed at more than 830 people working in organizations engaged in urban and territorial regeneration.
The program is structured on three progressive levels — basic, intermediate, and advanced — and focuses on building skills in data and generative AI, with particular attention to their cultural and social applications.
Project news
Who it’s for
The Rigenerativa courses are designed for employees, collaborators, and volunteers of the partner organizations, members of Lo Stato dei Luoghi, and all the people who live in or take part in the cultural spaces and activities of the network.
The training program
Online synchronous and asynchronous learning
From September to December 2025, the program offers 16 online classes, both live and on-demand, for a total of 40 hours of training. Coordinated by Alma AI, the research center of the University of Bologna, the program provides theoretical foundations and essential tools to understand generative AI, its fields of application, and its ethical and legal implications.
The modules are designed to introduce the use of AI in key operational areas: communication, project design, cultural programming, impact evaluation, and audience engagement.
On-site thematic campuses
Following the online training, in 2026 a series of in-person campuses will be organized in different Italian cities. These campuses will focus on specific topics through practical, collaborative, and workshop-based methods, curated by Future Education Modena. Their goal is to consolidate the skills acquired, explore case studies, and foster exchange with experts and peers in an immersive, participatory environment.
Training on the new digital tool
Together with 11 non-profit organizations active in culture-led place regeneration, a new AI-based tool will be developed in partnership with Symboolic. These organizations will receive advanced training on its use through specialist workshops and mentoring sessions, aimed at supporting each of them in integrating the tool into their operations and transforming internal processes. The tool will be co-designed with the partners and tailored to the real needs of the cultural non-profit sector.
Training methodology
Sineglossa coordinates the development of the training contents, ensuring methodological consistency and integration across the different components.
The Alma Mater University of Bologna, through the Alma Mater Research Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, leads the synchronous and asynchronous online training, which provides the common foundation for all participants. The scientific and methodological quality of the modules curated by the University ensures the solidity of the content and its constant alignment with the latest developments in artificial intelligence, including ethical, legal, and cultural perspectives.
Future Education Modena (FEM) is responsible for the in-person campuses dedicated to the practical application of digital skills.
The technology partner Symboolic coordinates the development of a customized digital tool, to be tested within the 11 pilot organizations and designed to become a replicable model for innovation in the cultural sector.

Project selected and supported by
The Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale is a public–private partnership between the Italian Government and Acri (the Association of Foundations and Savings Banks). It operates within the digitalization goals set by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the National Complementary Plan (PNC), and is funded through contributions from banking foundations, which in return receive tax credits. The Fund selects and supports training and digital inclusion projects for various groups in society, including NEETs, women, unemployed and inactive people, workers at risk of losing their jobs due to automation, secondary school students, social economy operators, as well as incarcerated and vulnerable individuals. Its aim is to evaluate the impact of the supported training initiatives and to scale up the most effective ones, so as to provide the Government with best practices that can inform future national policies.
