What it's about
RIGENERATIVA officially kicks off: a new training program on generative artificial intelligence, selected and supported by the Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale – Impresa sociale. The project is led by Sineglossa (scientific direction), with training partners Future Education Institute and the Alma Mater Research Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (University of Bologna), and in collaboration with Lo Stato dei Luoghi through 14 cultural third-sector organizations across Italy.
The initiative is designed to strengthen the digital skills of Italian non-profit cultural organizations engaged in urban and territorial regeneration, with a special focus on the application of generative AI in cultural and social contexts.
From September 2025 to July 2026, the program will offer online lessons, in-person campuses, and advanced training for over 830 people, including employees, collaborators, volunteers, and members of the Lo Stato dei Luoghi network.
Starting today, registration is open for 16 online courses (available both live and on demand) beginning in September. The training will be held in Italian.
Online lessons: September 24 – November 20, 2025
The first phase will be entirely online, featuring 16 sessions available both live and asynchronously, with leading experts such as Francesco D’Isa, Federico Bomba, Luca Baraldi, Paolo Torroni, Andrea Galassi, Noemi Conditi, Danila Longo, Chiara Panciroli, Alessia Tripaldi, Maurizio Napolitano, Martina Massari, Rossella Roversi, and Martino Pietropoli.
The curriculum, coordinated by the Alma Mater Research Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (University of Bologna), includes introductory modules on responsible AI use, in-depth sessions on legal and ethical aspects, and focus areas such as creativity, audience engagement, urban regeneration, governance, and cultural curatorship with AI.
Eligible participants include employees, collaborators, volunteers, and members of the Lo Stato dei Luoghi network, as well as anyone who lives in or engages with the cultural spaces of the network.
After completing the registration form, participants will receive a mandatory initial questionnaire by email, which must be filled out to access the first lesson. Upon completing the first course and receiving the corresponding certificate, participants will be able to request access to additional modules of interest.

AI for Culture – Urban Regeneration Guided by Cultural Heritage
The lesson analyzes the relationship between artificial intelligence and urban regeneration starting from cultural heritage. It introduces the “CH-driven” approach and the role of culture in transformational processes. We will examine technological tools and European case studies. The aim is to understand how GenAI can support urban planning.
with Danila Longo and Beatrice Turillazzi
Thursday 9 October
3:00 – 5:00 pm
The Culture of Artificial Intelligence
The spread of artificial intelligence in everyday life and educational contexts requires building an AI culture to guide professionals through technological change. The meeting explores four key dimensions: literacy (understanding key concepts), critical reflection (epistemological and social considerations), ethics (responsibility and sustainability), and expressiveness (creative use of AI). The aim is to propose an educational approach centered on the relationship between human and machine to develop critical thinking and creativity.
with Chiara Panciroli
Monday 13 October
3:00 – 5:00 pm
Soft Skills for AI
The session offers an overview of the transformation of the labor market following the advent of AI, with a focus on transversal competencies — soft skills. In the first part of the meeting, we will analyze the soft skills most relevant for a conscious use of AI and for effective integration between AI opportunities and human expertise. The second part will be dedicated to presenting a self‑assessment methodology aimed at strengthening the capacity to recognize and activate one’s own soft skills.
with Alessia Tripaldi
Tuesday 14 October
3:00 – 6:00 pm
AI and Creativity
Creativity—understood as the ability to generate new solutions and unexpected meanings—is an evolving concept that, in the era of GenAI, takes on unprecedented forms and raises new questions. The lecture offers a re‑interpretation of creativity, highlighting fundamental dimensions in educational and technological contexts. The first conversation machines oriented toward creativity and the role of GenAI will be examined in constructing and deconstructing the creative process. Finally, we will reflect on prompting as a key competence for guiding the generation of images and transforming interaction with AI into a co‑creation process.

Thursday 16 October
3:00 – 5:00 pm
AI and Audience Engagement
In the digital and post-digital landscape, artificial intelligence is transforming the relationship between cultural institutions and their audiences, especially in urban spaces. This lesson explores how data and AI can personalise cultural experiences – not only to attract, but also to educate and nurture loyalty. From recommending events to designing bespoke immersive experiences, AI offers innovative tools that overcome traditional barriers and turn engagement into a continuous learning process. The session will showcase practical examples of museums and public spaces already using AI to programme targeted activities and communications, illustrating how machine learning and creativity can broaden and diversify public participation.
with Chiara Panciroli
Tuesday 28 October
3:00 – 5:00 pm
AI and Inclusion
The focus of this session is to provide skills for critical reading, deconstruction and the creation of inclusive and equitable pathways through the co‑creation of texts, audiovisual products and experiments with generative AI, in order to encourage collective autonomy and responsible production. The activities will also emphasise key soft skills – such as critical thinking, communication and collaboration – needed to operate in complex educational, cultural and social contexts. By the end of the workshop, participants will have operational tools for designing and implementing inclusive media interventions, promoting equity and plurality in their own contexts.

Data, AI and Spatiality
This session reflects on the relationships between urban and territorial data, artificial intelligence and the representation of urban space. We will explore the potential of AI to analyse, interpret, connect and reinterpret urban geographies and spatial practices, with a focus on the use of data in regeneration and urban planning contexts. The lecture will show methods for mapping and visualising spatial phenomena through AI‑based tools, while addressing ethical, environmental and social implications. Case studies will illustrate how AI can support inclusive decision‑making and promote equitable, sustainable management of public spaces.

Next Phases
Starting in January 2026, the project continues with in-person thematic campuses hosted by partner cultural centers across Italy: Basis (Silandro, Bolzano), Melting Pro (Rome), Agenzia Lama (Florence), Base (Milan), Wunderkammer (Ferrara), Wake Up (Catanzaro), Karakorum (Varese), and Ateliersi (Bologna). These campuses, curated by Future Education Modena, will allow participants to deepen and consolidate skills while exploring case studies through practical, collaborative, and hands-on methodologies.
The final stage will focus on developing an AI-based tool, co-designed by Symboolic Srl with 11 organizations and tailored to the real needs of the non-profit cultural sector. Through specialized workshops and mentoring sessions, organizations will receive advanced training to integrate the tool into their internal processes.
