What it’s about
From April to July 2025, Sineglossa, together with Fondazione Fitzcarraldo ETS, promoted the educational course GENERATIVE HERITAGE: Tools and skills to enhance cultural heritage through artificial intelligence, a project that fit into the set of activities Sineglossa has dedicated to generative artificial intelligence for the cultural sector, recently joined by Generativa, the new Academy dedicated to AI for the creative and cultural field.
Who participated?
How can artificial intelligence open up new opportunities to promote a museum’s collection? 22 artists and cultural operators under 35 that tried answering this question by taking part in Generative Heritage to acquire new skills in mastering generative AI and understanding its potential, both for cultural design and artistic research:Azzurra Albanese, Eleonora A., Jacopo Bono, Matteo Borsari, Giorgia Capra, Armando Di Caprio, Caterina Farinaro, Giulia Felderer, Vanessa Glorioso, Maria Marinelli, Diego Possamai, Flavia R., Sabrina Sacco, Pasquale Savignano, Jessy Simonini, Adele Spina, Chiara Luna Targhetta Dur, Alice Vigogna Ruby Villarreal Vanessa Vinzio and Federica Zianni.

The final project work
From a training point of view, Generative Heritage provided sector-specific skills (audience development), technical knowledge (AI) and soft skills to strengthen design and managerial abilities.
The training methodology was a result of an union between experimental teaching and a lab-based approach, culminating in a final project work in Turin where the class took part in a study visit to the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano, one of the symbolic sites of the italian history. In this real museum space, the class explored the museum halls accompanied by the director Alessandro Bollo, to imagine new enhancement strategies through artificial intelligence, before starting the actual design work. The goal of the project work was to develop interactive prototypes that would enhance the Museum collection, making the visitor experience more immediate and accessible via artificial intelligence.
AI represents a crucial challenge for the culture field too, which needs innovative tools to deal with the increasing complexities and compete successfully, despite the limited resources available. The need for training stems from a growing awareness: AI- Based services are evolving at impressive speed, and those who offer cultural solutions must stay up to the date and engage with the best institutions and professionals in the field.

The prototypes presented
Between quizzes and games, thematic and personalized visit routes featuring historical figures, community maps, virtual environments and AI-generated soundscapes for an enhanced visit experience, the class -split into groups- worked on the prototyping of four AI-Based solutions for enhancing the museum collection:
Risorgiment.IA
Un’interfaccia interattiva all’ingresso del museo che, attraverso un quiz rapido e ispirazionale, consiglia un percorso personalizzato per tempo e contenuti, migliorando l’accessibilità e l’ingaggio del pubblico.

Being italian
A thematic and personalized route based on an initial quiz, that guides the visitator to the discovery of historical figures and identitarian values, encouraging active recognition with the idea of being Italian- both in the past and today.
Discover Torino
An interactive city map that links urban points of interest to museum themes and objects, to amplify the cultural experience beyond the museum’s walls.
Trame D'Italia
An enhanced route inside the museum, featuring virtual environments and AI-Based soundtracks that “make archive materials talk”, activating an immersive and personalized storytelling.
