learning, there are projects, programmes and institutes that are already exploiting <strong>new technologies to stimulate more critical thinking in the classroom<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How can artificial intelligence help in schools?\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artificial intelligence can be used in various ways in education and school teaching:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can be used to <strong>personalise<\/strong> <strong>learning<\/strong>, adapting the pace, level of difficulty and teaching style to the individual needs and abilities of students; <\/span><\/li><li>can be used to <strong>create virtual tutors<\/strong> who provide support and feedback to individual students in a similar way to a real teacher;<\/li><li>can be used to <strong>analyse students&#8217; data<\/strong> and predict their future performance, enabling teachers to intervene early to avoid failures;<\/li><li>it can be used to <strong>automatically generate teaching materials<\/strong>, such as quizzes, exercises and videos, to provide additional support to teachers and make students autonomous in the learning process;<\/li><li>finally, an evolving field of application is its use to <strong>automate assessments<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To sum up, virtuous cases of the use of artificial intelligence in education do exist, and recounting them can be useful in deconstructing the most popular narratives around the adoption of this technology today.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A practical example of the application of artificial intelligence for educational purposes can be the combination of machine learning algorithms to analyse large amounts of data, make them available according to grids and behaviours learned by and from users, and finally use the learned information to stimulate the production of new content in a responsible and conscious manner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This type of application concerns <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Recommender_system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recommendation systems<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: information filtering software that uses artificial intelligence to transform data into predictive algorithms.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They have long been applied in various sectors, particularly in streaming and e-commerce services.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They perform the important function of automatically filtering and customising information, enabling the user to cope with the data overload they are subjected to on a daily basis.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The user is helped in the decision-making process based on the choices they have previously made.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>What if the recommender system recommended good sustainability practices<\/strong>?\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus was born the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Green Learning RS<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a tool developed <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to browse the archive of sustainability stories about italian best practices of chankemaking processes, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and discover new experiences on environmental, economic, social, technological sustainability. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ed69c9b elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"ed69c9b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<figure class=\"wp-caption\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1440\" height=\"1920\" src=\"https:\/\/sineglossa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photos-from-workshops-AI-for-Green-Learning-Ancona-march-2023-Ph.-Sineglossa.webp\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-image-19252\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sineglossa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photos-from-workshops-AI-for-Green-Learning-Ancona-march-2023-Ph.-Sineglossa.webp 1440w, https:\/\/sineglossa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photos-from-workshops-AI-for-Green-Learning-Ancona-march-2023-Ph.-Sineglossa-225x300.webp 225w, https:\/\/sineglossa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photos-from-workshops-AI-for-Green-Learning-Ancona-march-2023-Ph.-Sineglossa-768x1024.webp 768w, https:\/\/sineglossa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photos-from-workshops-AI-for-Green-Learning-Ancona-march-2023-Ph.-Sineglossa-1152x1536.webp 1152w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<figcaption class=\"widget-image-caption wp-caption-text\">Some topics emerged by investigating the sustainability stories archive with the artificial intelligence tool of GREEN LEARNING Recommender System. B. Brocchi<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> e <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iisscotton.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Istituto Istruzione Superiore A. Scotton<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and Ancona (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambiserrani.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Istituto di Istruzione Superiore L. Cambi \u2013 D. In particular, the activities were designed with the aim of increasing the knowledge and awareness of the new generations on the topic of sustainability in relation to the SDGs (Sustainable
